CUSTODES - Cultural Sites and Tourism: Development of European Strategies

The CUSTODES project is co-financed by the Central Europe Programme, and intends to increase the socio-economic value of cultural sites in the participating regions of Italy, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia, enhancing their potential as sustainable tourism destinations.

Coordinated by the Province of Rimini (IT), CUSTODES focuses on the development of tourist products specifically created for cultural sites in small centres, usually excluded from main tourism flows, but benefitting from the proximity of well known tourism destinations.
Therefore CUSTODES will develop and apply new models and concepts for increasing tourism accessibility and attractiveness in cultural sites with historical importance, but not fully exploited yet, implementing pilot actions focusing on archeological sites, castles and fortresses.
