Crafts Alphabet (3rd-5th June 2010)

This event is organized by the National Institute of Folk Culture in Strážnice (partner institution involved in CUSTODES Pilot Action) and is focused on examples of handicraft production, crafts and also activities connected with the traditional agriculture. 
The program thematically differs from year to year and is based on the use of different traditional manufacturing materials. This year´s program is focused on the metal and bees. And what will be visitors able to see? For example: beekeeping, honey and bee wax processing and production, usage of honey and wax. Metalwork will be introduced through the examples of work of tinkers, smiths, bell makers etc. All featured activities will be accompanied by an adequate explanation.
Interesting games and various workshops will be also prepared for children. The crafts will be showed by the real manufacturers and the main goal is to involve children into the activities as much as possible and enable them to experience the materials and traditional work procedures. Thanks to the prepared stands they will be able to try some less complicated techniques themselves and create something on their own and take that home with them.
